Downloading WampServer<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Download the installer file for the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wampserver.com\/en\/#download-wrapper\">latest version of WampServer<\/a>, and save the file to your computer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/core\/files\/2013\/06\/download-wampserver.png\" alt=\"Download WampServer Screen\" class=\"wp-image-5678\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Make sure you select the correct installer file for your version of Windows. If you don\u2019t know if your system is 32-bit or 64-bit,&nbsp;<strong>right-click on My Computer<\/strong>, and then&nbsp;<strong>click Properties<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/core\/files\/2013\/06\/windows7-system-type-64x.png\" alt=\"Windows 7 System Type Settings\" class=\"wp-image-5679\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8, look for&nbsp;<strong>System Type<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For Windows XP, look for&nbsp;<strong>x64<\/strong>&nbsp;in the&nbsp;<strong>System description<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/core\/handbook\/tutorials\/installing-a-local-server\/wampserver\/#top\">Top \u2191<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"2-installing-wampserver\"><a href=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/core\/handbook\/tutorials\/installing-a-local-server\/wampserver\/#2-installing-wampserver\">2. Installing WampServer<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To start the installation process, you need to open the folder where you saved the file, and&nbsp;<strong>double-click the installer file<\/strong>. A security warning window will open, asking if you are sure you want to run this file.&nbsp;<strong>Click Run<\/strong>&nbsp;to start the installation process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next you will see the Welcome To The WampServer Setup Wizard screen.&nbsp;<strong>Click Next<\/strong>&nbsp;to continue the installation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/core\/files\/2013\/06\/installing-wamp-2.png\" alt=\"Welcome To The WampServer Setup Wizard Screen\" class=\"wp-image-5680\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The next screen you are presented with is the License Agreement. Read the agreement, check the radio button next to&nbsp;<strong>I accept the agreement<\/strong>, then&nbsp;<strong>click Next<\/strong>&nbsp;to continue the installation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/core\/files\/2013\/06\/installing-wamp-3.png\" alt=\"Installing WampServer: License Agreement Screen\" class=\"wp-image-5681\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Next you will see the Select Destination Location screen. Unless you would like to install WampServer on another drive, you should not need to change anything.&nbsp;<strong>Click Next<\/strong>&nbsp;to continue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/core\/files\/2013\/06\/installing-wamp-4.png\" alt=\"Installing WampServer: Choose Install Location Screen\" class=\"wp-image-5682\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The next screen you are presented with is the Select Additional Tasks screen. You will be able to select whether you would like a Quick Launch icon added to the taskbar or a Desktop icon created once installation is complete. Make your selections, then&nbsp;<strong>click Next<\/strong>&nbsp;to continue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/core\/files\/2013\/06\/installing-wamp-5.png\" alt=\"Installing WampServer: Select Additional Tasks Screen\" class=\"wp-image-5683\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Next you will see the Ready To Install screen. You can review your setup choices, and change any of them by&nbsp;<strong>clicking Back<\/strong>&nbsp;to the appropriate screen, if you choose to. Once you have reviewed your choices,&nbsp;<strong>click Install<\/strong>&nbsp;to continue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/core\/files\/2013\/06\/installing-wamp-6.png\" alt=\"Installing WampServer: Ready To Install Screen\" class=\"wp-image-5684\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>WampServer will begin extracting files to the location you selected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/core\/files\/2013\/06\/installing-wamp-7.png\" alt=\"Installing WampServer: Unpacking Files Screen\" class=\"wp-image-5685\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the files are extracted, you will be asked to select your default browser. WampServer defaults to Internet Explorer upon opening the local file browser window. If your default browser isn\u2019t IE, then look in the following locations for the corresponding .exe file:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Opera:<\/strong>&nbsp;C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Opera\\opera.exe<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Firefox:<\/strong>&nbsp;C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Mozille Firefox\\firefox.exe<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Safari:<\/strong>&nbsp;C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Safari\\safari.exe<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Chrome:<\/strong>&nbsp;C:\\Users\\xxxxx\\AppData\\Local\\Google\\Chrome\\Application\\chrome.exe<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Select your default browser\u2019s .exe file, then&nbsp;<strong>click Open<\/strong>&nbsp;to continue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/core\/files\/2013\/06\/installing-wamp-8.png\" alt=\"Installing WampServer: Choose Default Browser Screen\" class=\"wp-image-5686\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A Windows Security Alert window will open, saying that Windows Firewall has blocked some features of the program. Check whether you want to allow Apache&nbsp;HTTP&nbsp;Server to communicate on a private or public&nbsp;network, then&nbsp;<strong>click Allow Access<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Setup screen will appear next, showing you the status of the installation process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/core\/files\/2013\/06\/installing-wamp-10.png\" alt=\"Installing WampServer: Finishing Installation Screen\" class=\"wp-image-5687\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the progress bar is completely green, the PHP Mail Parameters screen will appear. Leave the SMTP server as&nbsp;<strong>localhost<\/strong>, and change the email address to one of your choosing.&nbsp;<strong>Click Next<\/strong>&nbsp;to continue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/core\/files\/2013\/06\/installing-wamp-11.png\" alt=\"Installing WampServer: PHP Mail Parameters Screen\" class=\"wp-image-5688\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Installation Complete screen will now appear.&nbsp;<strong>Check the Launch WampServer Now<\/strong>&nbsp;box, then&nbsp;<strong>click Finish<\/strong>&nbsp;to complete the installation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/core\/files\/2013\/06\/installing-wamp-12.png\" alt=\"Installing WampServer: Completing The WampServer Setup Wizard Screen\" class=\"wp-image-5689\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>You should see the WampServer icon appear in the systray on the right side of your taskbar. If the icon is green, then everything is working properly. If the icon is orange, then there are issues with one of the services. If the icon is red, then both Apache and MySQL services aren\u2019t running. Testing WampServer<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you have completed the installation process, test that your installation is working properly by going to&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/localhost\/\">http:\/\/localhost\/<\/a>&nbsp;in your browser. You should see the WampServer homepage displayed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/core\/files\/2013\/06\/wampserver-homepage.png\" alt=\"WampServer Homepage Screen\" class=\"wp-image-5691\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>If the WampServer homepage does not display, you will want to check that your&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hosts_(file)\">hosts file<\/a>&nbsp;has&nbsp;<strong>localhost mapped to 127.0.0.1<\/strong>, and you aren\u2019t running any other services on port 80, such as another local server (XAMPP, DesktopServer, etc.), WebDAV, or Skype.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Installing WampServer 1.
